Practicing yoga is a common thing in today's world. Because of its physical and mental benefits, most people spend their free time practicing yoga. But most of them have a common question,
Should I do yoga at home, or Should I attend a Yoga Class?
It's a common question for most yogis, especially those new to yoga, and considering giving it a try for the first time.
Considering this question, we cannot say that this is the correct and effective method because both methods have advantages and disadvantages. Considering these advantages and disadvantages, you can choose the correct method for practicing yoga.
1. Guidance and support from a teacher
The most effective way of practicing yoga is working with a live teacher. It helps you to improve your alignment and technique. This is especially true for beginners. Even if we feel outstanding in a pose, something may not be in the correct alignment. Hands-on adjustments from a teacher can help you physically feel how a certain pose should be aligned in your body.
This can also give you peace of mind that you're practicing safely. And it's always nice to have a teacher gently assist you to go deeper into a pose.
Learn different methods. There's always something new to learn in every class, whether it's a new way to approach a pose or a breathing technique. Yoga teachers frequently have specific themes or lessons that may resonate with or inspire you. While attending different yoga classes, you can learn their various techniques, different approach for each pose. Their advice and personal experience can assist you in delving deeper into your practice.
2. Reduce Anxiety & other mental problems
Practicing with a great teacher is a gift because it allows us to get out of our heads and slow down from the constant thinking, questioning, and guessing about where we should go next. This can be highly beneficial for those who suffer from anxiety or feel the need to control. Taking with your teacher also helps you to reduce your mental stress and other problems.
Attending a yoga class typically cost between $10 and $20 per 60 minutes. If you cannot spend like that, it will be a problem for you. Another reason is if you don't live near a yoga class, traveling to and from the yoga class can be time-consuming and stressful, making it difficult to fit in a yoga class if you already have a full schedule. Long commutes or traffic can also be inconvenient and stressful, wildly if you must rush to get to class on time.
2. Not suitable for all
If you have any injuries, it's usually a good idea to inform the teacher ahead of time so that they can assist you if necessary, depending on the size of the class.
If you feel shy in front of others, yoga classes may not fit you. If so, you should find an individual yoga class, but it is very pricy.
3. It can be challenging to find a suitable class
Yoga studios and classes may be found in almost any location these days, especially if you reside in a large or popular city. Each studio also has many teachers. You'll discover that not every class or teacher is a good fit for you. It can be discouraging to enroll in classes only to find out that you don't connect with the instructor's style of instruction. Finding the ideal style and teacher for you may take some effort and research.

Practicing at home, especially online, provides you with access to a vast library of yoga videos and resources. It will not be the same routines over and over. You will get a chance to practice with teachers from around the world, giving you the opportunity to expand out and try new yoga techniques. Some websites even offer meditations, breathwork, instructional videos, and other services in addition to yoga.

Without the supervision of a teacher, you can easily distract or struggle with self-motivation. Dedicating yourself to a home practice may be difficult. You may find that without specific direction from a teacher, your mind is out of your control.
2. Less support & guidance
If you practice on your own, without guidance from a teacher, you may be missing out on important lessons. If you're a beginner to yoga, you may be unsure if you're doing a pose correctly. This could lead to the development of bad habits or misalignments, which could impede your practice or even lead to injury.
If you attend an online yoga class, sometimes you may feel like you are getting less support because your teacher can not touch and correct your wrong alignments.
3. Lack of community
If you want to be part of a good community, a home practice may not be fit for you.
There are ways to create an online community. Even though some virtual resources will have private groups for people who practice yoga at home that you can join, sometimes it doesn't fit for you. it's not the same as taking a group class or having those in-person relationships.
4. A lot of recourses
If you are a beginner, having access to many online yoga videos may make you unsure where to begin your first step. This could lead to procrastination, especially for someone new.
Choosing a method that fits you is a personal thing. While investigating the benefits of both, you can select the correct approach to begin your yoga.
